merry almost CHRISTmas! yesterday ... my students & i made ornaments. my dear Friend ... Jenny came to help us! and we didn't scare her away ... she wants to come back!
we made paper mache ornaments and they turned out really well! we only had two mishaps:
1. tiny tim dumped the paper mache paste/liquid on the carpet ... Ahh! it landed on his jacket (which was suppose to be on his chair/not in the way) ... that's what he gets! :)
2. sha-nay-nay decided to be "cute" and paper mache some tissue paper to her FOREHEAD! Awesome! oh these kids. too bad i missed that photo op. :(
i really need to take more photos! jenny was able to take our 1st FAMILY (class) photo. we took some serious school photos & some "Funny" ones! i love when you can look at a "Funny" photo and see everyones personality! i'll see what i can do to share the photo! i uploaded them onto the computer yesterday and realized just how much i love those kids ... despite their attitudes & crazy ways! i just love them!
today i was out ... went to observe some AWESOME teachers teach ... the students had to draw CHRISTMAS pictures and incorporate their spelling words into their picture. one boy incorporated his name and titled his ... merry mackmus! so merry mackmus to all ... merry CHRISTmas to all ... here's to 2 1/2 more days!

Ivan the Terrible is why I teach ... WAR EAGLE!
whew ... hello weekend! only 11 1/2 school days until CHRISTMAS BREAK! but ... who's counting? :)
the cold weather is here (For now!) and the boys have decided to become "men" by wearing shorts and t-shirts to school. i love to watch them shake and shiver while they talk about how it's not cold and how they don't need a jacket. every morning i say ... hmm ... why shorts ... where's your jacket ... put it on. i'm not cold ... you sure look cold. nope not me. oh i see ... you like to wear purple lipstick ... only real men wear purple lipstick. now sit down ... and PUT ON YOUR JACKET!
the week started really well! i spent the weekend putting up my bulletin board Christmas tree ... equipped with battery operated lights & paper ornaments my kids made! i plan to showcase student work on the board. i think i will put bows on the work to make it look like little presents ... cheesy i know ... but the kids love it!
monday went really well! on tuesday ... i was observed and it went REALLY well! i was very excited. she wanted to observe some particular students to see how we can better manage their behavior. she talked about how well i did ... how she liked this and how she liked that ... and how i could maybe try this or try that. very very HELPFUL! she did however get to here my one particular challenge student who i will call Ivan ... Ivan the Terrible ... call me racists. yes because i didn't call on him when he was yelling out and not raising his hand. this was nothing compared to some other things he has said to me or called me. quick side note ... when i did TFA they had these speeches and at the end people would close with Billy Bob is why I Teach For America or Sally Sue is why I Teach For America. i really hope and believe that one day i will be able to say ... Ivan the Terrible is why I Teach (For America!) we have a love/hate relationship and it works somedays and somedays not so much. so back to tuesday ... it went well! wednesday came and went ... it was okay. then thursday ... ohhh thursday ... that's all. now today (Friday) ... the other 5th Grade teachers were out. at 7:15 AM i knew it would not be pretty today and boy was i right. let's just say ... i let the playground babysit today. only For 20 minutes ... but i needed a break. on a good note i made it through 2 stories with 4 Reading groups this week. AWESOME!
i need to write daily so that i remember all the crazy ... ridiculous things my kids do/say. and so these posts aren't so LONG! sorry!
make it a GREAT day or not ... the choice is yours. come on AUBURN ... choose to make it GREAT take home the SEC Championship! WAR EAGLE!
